SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE 20 | IS IT WORTHY? | THE TECHNOBYTE |
Samsung recently unveiled their highly anticipated Note 20 series along with a few other products. The Note line up has always been innovative. Its main highlight is its s-pen. No other brand has been able to offer a stylus experience like the Note. The s-pen integration with note phones is awesome.
Simple features like note taking, remote selfie to fun features like air actions are incredible. These are only simple features. But these simple features make the note experience inevitable. Note features helps greatly in day-to-day life. But are these features enough to pay 78K for a smartphone? There are some compromises that are worth noting.
In this blog, I will be only covering about the Note 20 because Note 20 ultra differs in many ways from the regular Note 20. It offers a full-fledged flagship experience. Comment if you want a separate post for Note 20 ultra.
Display:
Samsung is known for their best in class displays. They never compromise on their display even in mid-range smartphones. But the Note 20 offers only a 60 hertz refresh rate display. This is unacceptable in 2020’s standards.
Nowadays even smartphones under 20k budget have a higher refresh rate display. Here the display quality is really good. But at this price range, they should have opted for a higher refresh rate display.
Performance:
The Note 20 houses the snapdragon 865+. This is the latest flagship chip from Qualcomm. But this variant is available only for US. For the rest of the world, it is exynos 990. Exynos processors are not as efficient as snapdragon chipsets.
But recently there has been some speculations about snapdragon processors that they are vulnerable to hacking. But still, exynos 990 is a great processor for day to day usage and you won't regret using it.
Build:
The Note 20 comes with a poly-carbonate body, which means a plastic body. You read it correctly. Note 20 comes with a plastic back. Now many people may think that the build quality will be a downside for this device.
But Samsung has used an aluminium frame along with a matt finish. The quality of plastic used is also very premium. Plastic build has its own advantages like,
- Good cellular reception
- Efficient heat dissipation
- Makes the phone more durable than glass sandwich builds. 90% of us slab a case after unboxing it. In the front it is covered with the latest Gorilla glass victus.
Features:
The Note 20 is a feature rich phone. This is a business phone and has a lot of useful features like Dex, s-pen. Dex is a great feature in the hands of a right user.
You can connect your phone to a display and automatically turn that display into a desktop and you can use your phone as a trackpad.
S-pen:
The name note comes from the ability to use the phone to take notes. Later many brands used this name for their devices which did not have a stylus. S-pen has various functionalities. Every year, samsung improvises their s-pen experience. No other brand has been able to replicate the s-pen. S-pen is very useful for artistic works like drawing. It has a total of 4096 levels of pressure sensitivity so you can draw accurately and precisely.
Advantages:
- Knox security
- S-pen
- Samsung Dex
- Clean UI.
Disadvantages:
- Higher refresh rate display is missing.
- Pricing could have been lesser.
Conclusion:
Samsung has made some compromises in this phone. But in my opinion, if you're looking for a feature rich phone from a tier one brand, you can opt for the Note 20. You won't be disappointed. Do subscribe to get regular notifications from the blog. Do comment if you are okay with the pricing.
