REVIEWING THE ONEPLUS 7 PRO IN 2020 | IS IT WORTHY? | THE TECHNOBYTE |

REVIEWING THE ONEPLUS 7 PRO IN 2020 | IS IT WORTHY? | THE TECHNOBYTE |

Our previous post was about the iPhone 11. It was about how well it performed in 2020. But if you are not interested in iOS and want to buy a really good Android flagship for 30K, then you are in the right place. You have already read the title.

It is about the OnePlus 7 Pro. It has been a year and a half since the launch of this device. But it still remains as a flagship device. It is still equal to the recently launched to OnePlus 8 and even better in some aspects. The phone was ahead of its time when it was launched. It still remains a great value for money in every aspect.

Display:

OnePlus 7 pro has a large 6.67-inch QHD+ fluid amoled display. When it was launched, it was bigger when compared to any of its predecessors. But in 2020, it blends among the other gigantic panels like the S20+, Note 20 Ultra, iPhone 11 pro max.

It is a curved, bezel less display with a 90Hz refresh rate. It houses a pop-up camera. So, there is no obtrusion in the front. This display offers an immersive experience for watching movies & playing games.

Performance of OnePlus 7 pro in 2020:

OnePlus 7 pro was launched with the 2019’s flagship chipset Snapdragon 855. 865 is definitely faster than 855. But there is still no app on the play store, that would not run on this phone. If you are switching from Snapdragon 865 to this phone, you surely wouldn’t notice any major difference. It also has UFS 3.0 for storage, which means moving files is going to be a lot faster.

Cameras:

The main doubt for many people would be, how does the cameras perform in 2020? The cameras in this one are equal to the OnePlus 8 and even better in some aspects. On the back, it has a triple camera setup.

The mains sensor is a 48-megapixel sensor with f/1.6 aperture lens. The pictures are well detailed with excellent dynamic range.

The second sensor is a 16-megapixel wide angle camera. The dynamic range is similar in both the main sensor and the wide angle.

The third sensor is a 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 3X optical zoom. It also has laser autofocus. Since it houses a Snapdragon chipset, the Gcam support is massive on this one. Gcam’s night mode is exceptional. There is so much detail even in low light. On the front it has a 20 mega-pixel pop-up selfie camera which also produces very decent images.

Build and design:

This phone has a frosted glass back which feels very premium and holds up well even in 2020’s standards. The display curves on the edges. The phone is a bit slippery but sturdy. It weighs 206 grams and has stereo speakers for audio.

Pricing and Conclusion:

When the OnePlus 7 pro was launched, the only con it had was its pricing. It was the most expensive OnePlus phone at that time. But now you can find this phone for 25K on eBay for the phone alone and 30K for the whole unboxing experience.

But if it sounds a bit skeptical and if you want to buy a new phone in a sealed box with 1-year warranty, I suggest you to buy the OnePlus 8. But if your budget is around 30K and you are looking for a flagship phone and if you feel comfortable with eBay, then the OnePlus 7 Pro will be a great deal.

Generally, OnePlus tends to give 3 years of software updates for their phones. But it has been a year since this phone was released, so you will get only 2 years of updates. I wouldn't suggest buying this phone for 40K on Amazon. At that price, the latest Oneplus 8 will be a better choice.

Do comment which 2019 flagship I should review in my next blog post.
